Jobs in Mexico? The last thing we want to do is prop up that country’s economy, we need their people to come here and work. Why give them a reason to stay in Mexico?

I really liked that
Loud pipes? Seriously? What kind of a guy doesn’t like loud pipes? Never mind, this is Jalopnik, where the favorite car is the Miata. pffft.
Closing this would just be weak. They used to navigate it with horses and carts full of ore. If you can’t handle it in a modern 4 wheel drive, it’s not the damn road’s fault.
Never liked the Avalanche. So lame. But I will say the Vortec 8.1 is a good engine. It’s a work horse; low rpm, industrial towing motor. Perfect for a 5th Wheel or in marine applications. I remember back in the day they claimed to have tested the durability by running it full throttle for 30 days, or some Volvo-esque…
Neither. Why would I want a car that required no maintenance?
You’re right, the low price has made me appreciate them. I never even looked before, but now I see one for under $5k and I’m like, “Hmm, maybe those aren’t so bad after all”. And I’m pretty sure most non-car guys (and girls) think you probly paid like $50k; “Oooh....you drive a Porsh?”
I have it, and I use it mostly when I’m in the garage doing something else, (like taking out the trash) and then I realize I need to get something out of my truck but I’m too lazy to walk all the way back to the house and my son just ignores me when I a text him to push the fob. Fyi, I have a detached garage and it’s…
If I had $100K to blow on a ridiculous car, I’m pretty sure I could come up with another $50K to get the real thing.
High school graduation? I don’t know anything about this family, but from the unavoidable bits I’ve gathered over the years, I truly assumed these girls were in their mid to late 20’s. Well, I suppose they could be, but high school? Mind blown.
So he basically plastered his car with signs saying, “I hate Mexicans too!” I’m guessing he won’t be getting any real sponsors anytime soon.
Weened on High Life, I remember when you could get a six pack for a $1.50, or a tall boy for $.90 in a bar.
That’s a tough one. Generally food is in the beer category, but a restaurant steak? That might be considered a faux pas in the truck world. Now a steak on the bbq...no rules.
I agree with everything except you can’t charge your friends! Helping friends move is part of the deal when you own a truck. Beer, of course, but cash? Never.
I’ve done several 1000+ days. Once on a 1967 R69s BMW with a Defeld solo seat, no helmet and no wind screen.
Jalopnik just ain’t what it used to be.
