I feel for Francis, I really do. Both of her parents are and were incredibly flawed human beings, and while great artists, they hardly took the parenting issue seriously. Francis might be rich, but money will never take the place of having a functional family.

I've read most of the series and I know that I have said this before, but I'm glad that they've taken some leeway with the characters (Lafayette, Jessica), though I wish that they would have nixed Harris's standard romance plot bullshit (Sookie, Bill).
Can I just reiterate how glad I am that the writers decided to deviate from the books? I love what they have done with Lafayette, Jessica, and Tara. On the downside, I don't know how much longer I can stand watching Suckey and Bill; they bore the crap out of me now.
