This poor girl. Her poor parents. Missouri is not doing so well in the "treatment of rape victims" department lately (see: Coleman, Daisy).

Of the things that often stop me from commenting and thus meaning I'm a regular grey, the assumptions of other commenters are the worse.
So, you're saying that, even though the hateful comments got so heated and nasty to the point where I was crying and hurt by how RANDOM PEOPLE ON THE INTERNET were viewing me, I should have just stuck around to see what happened? Fuck that noise. (Oh, and for the record, ONE person called out the individual who…
The convo got moved to GT by the same commenter attacking me, and I witnessed several GT people making snide comments about me on that post. Also, if a GT regular makes disparaging comments on Jezebel, how can I not tie that to how I view GT? GT breeds a lot of bullies and santimonious assholes who spill their hate…
You are a treasure, sweetheart. You've always been a favorite of mine. xoxoxo
I was perma blacklisted from there for daring to say I do not like Beyonce. (Which, according to several GT posters, meant I am "racist.") I'm cool with it, I hate the negative attitudes and extremism. Only took one day of name calling, racism accusations and crying in my office to come to that point.
Seeing someone call GT an "inclusive" community has to be the most fucking hilarious thing I've read all day. You honestly thing GT is inclusive and a supportive space? What a fucking lark!
I think GT poster fall into two camps: "My life sucks soooo much, feel sorry for me!" and "I am the most militant Social Justice Warrior on the Internet and you all are bad, racist ladies!!"
You're taking it personally that I'm criticizing HuffPo? Seriously?
Screw HuffPo. They require people to sign up for Facebook in order to comment on their site.
The Hairpin is so much better. The commenters are fun and supportive, not overly obsessed with being inoffensive (as in Anna Holmes-era Jez, with that whole, "oh no ladies, don't use the word lame, you'll offend everyone") or catty (which seems to be Jessica Coen-era Jez).
HuffPo response to this all:
Well done. Truly a great victory for feminism.
Looks like they did a pretty simple edit job. I've done more retouching on basic portrait work.
This.
Retouched for vogue
Honestly? Let's imagine that I paid personally for a set of photographs of myself. All the minor alterations done here I'd want done to myself. In particular, the image of her sitting on the edge of the tub shows a garish angle to her boobs. The cut-and-paste is a little more modest and nicer looking. Not that showing…
Unretouched pigeon photo.
Wow. This is the ultimate in concern trolling.
Honestly all I see here is how bad a photographer is and how much work was left to the editor. I know Annie is regarded as a great photographer (and I love a huge amount of her work) there are still ways to photograph and light someone that don't require so much editing.
