“Believe women” means when a woman makes an accusation, it should be taken seriously, viewed as credible, and an unbiased, thorough investigation should be conducted. It does not mean to continue to believe women regardless of what is discovered. As you said, there are many, many, many reasons to question Tara Reade’s

The article also conveniently leaves out that she was lying to and stealing from the charity she worked for, not just being late on payments.

That’s not it, exactly. I had many years of struggling to make rent but I know that my former landlords would say something like, “She was a nice girl with money problems. I didn’t kick her out, though, because she took excellent care of the place.” These folks are saying Reade had money problems, but also saying wasn’

After reading this article, and I do respect the particular writer a lot, I don’t know anymore what Jezebel considers relevant information when it comes to Reade accusation? Even the Politico piece referred here isn’t exactly what the article depicts it as as it focuses on the fact that Reade has had an alleged of

Actually, a lot of us felt sorry for Monica Lewinsky at the time. My anger was directed at Clinton’s stupidity of handing himself over to the right wing nuts and at Linda Tripp for pretending to be Lewinsky’s friend while she was busy selling her out.

We actually knew exactly who Clinton was the day we voted for him. He was a scoundrel who cheated on his wife. Still better than the two he was running against.

Are we really at an impasse though? I’m not. I’m absolutely voting for Biden over Trump.

Democratic voters selected Clinton, his affairs were known in the primaries. His character was a major part of the early Dem debates. Tongass, in particular, was rough on him. Biden was picked after months of vetting by DC insiders and lawyers.

So basically neither side is credible and we’re at an impasse.

That’s a strawman, though, because the Politico article does not make the claim that because she had financial difficulty she must be lying about being sexual assaulted. It is about the fact that she seems to have a pattern of lying for personal gain, including lying about her position while working for Joe Biden.

Yep.  And this is the thing.  Reade had a horse.  Horses are expensive pets.  If you are so poor, that you can’t afford to pay rent, you don’t own a horse.

Jez writers seem to be overwhelmingly pro-Bernie, and probably believe that if Reade's allegations force Biden out of the race, it will allow Bernie to ride in on a white steed to take over the nomination. 🙄🙄🙄

A pattern of grifting is a pattern of grifting. And it taints anything else you do from that point on. This isn’t Monica Lewinski. This woman was writing articles swooning over Putin just last year. There’s all kinds of red flags here. She has a pattern, Biden doesn’t. Guess which one looks more suspect here?

Maybe.

The Politico article could have been written about my sister. She did exactly the kinds of things attributed to Tara Reade. She was always in financial trouble, always asking for help, and more than willing to walk away and leave others holding the bag. She made up detailed stories about her life — like how she had to

I honestly cannot figure out why Jezebel keeps defending this lady. The best investigative journalists have followed up and can’t confirm her story. The Obama campaign vetted Biden thoroughly before making him the VP. They wouldn’t miss this if it was real. Everything about her allegations feel wrong about what people

I’m not sure this article really tracks with what Politico was doing. To go public with a sexual assault case against a powerful individual requires one of two things: evidence, or a leap of faith on behalf of the public.

The “aggrieved acquaintances” were but a handful of former landlords. The damning behavior behind the trumpeted claim of dishonesty and wrongdoing? Reade allegedly struggled to pay her rent, and sometimes she pleaded for her landlords’ sympathy.

“Never having struggled, never having been dishonest, and never having spoken positively of an alleged abuser.”
