Thinking about it, I find that I have no mental resistance to singular “they” when discussing an abstract person (“if a person comes into the store, they should be greeted immediately”), but when discussing a specific person (e.g. Lovato) it still feels awkward, because I haven’t yet gotten accustomed to using the

The comic series had a lot of characters that seemed like one offs or background characters only to come back again and again.   If you don’t get killed then you show up again pretty much

Amber is a blonde white girl in the original.  Debbie is dark haired, but not necessarily Asian.

At least Freaks of the Industry acknowledges that it’s not okay for your homies watch you as you’re engaging in freakiness. Downright progressive in the era of “It Ain’t no Fun If the Homies Can’t Have None”.

Heineken!

Well good, because my dad always said Abdul-Jabbar didn’t work hard enough on defense.

You must have him confused with someone else. His name is Roger Murdock. He’s the co-pilot.

Will the project address Abdul-Jabbar’s brief but eventful stint as an airline pilot?

It’s never for the role or the film though, it’s always when the award is due.

Sorry to see I’m Thinking of Ending Things and Palm Springs shut out altogether.  Loved those two films last year. Mank was super dull. I guess that’s just the Academy being the Academy.

Dawes (even more classic from the grays)

No better way for me to lose my enthusiasm for a new Melissa McCarthy movie than finding out that her husband wrote/directed it. God bless them, they seem like they’re very happy, but he is killing any momentum she once had with these god-awful movies.

Shit, you might be right. It has been a decade, after all.

That takes me back. When this site did Human Target recaps, the commentariat was united in the belief that Indira Varma’s character, Ilsa Pucci, was the worst.
