The players put themselves in that position by agreeing to terms on how rookies get paid in the latest CBA with owners. Grant it, NFL veterans were tired of Rookies getting massive deals so they made that decision as a players association to collectively agree to those terms.

I mean, there was character growth and development in there that people might want to see borne out. There are also some questions (like “who is Archer’s father?”) that the story has toyed with answering that people might want to find out more about.
