Best. Episode. Ever.
I'd watch season 2 of Dollhouse over SHIELD any day. And season 2 of Dollhouse wasn't great. But, again, better than this.
Wait, Joss was the showrunner for Spartacus? I managed to not know a single thing about that show until this very second.
"didn't the Whedons used to have a reputation for being good television writers? "
Honestly, the reemergence of Morgan is the only reason to be watching this show and that's not really enough. Oh The Walking Dead, I wish I could quit you.
No Carol, no Abraham, no Eugene, extra Rick porn, lots of Alexandrians… F-
Mostly I don't watch really crappy stuff. Like Arrow.
Okay. I can get behind this, although I would've sorta put it in the "she woke up" category. Even if they had the experience on some spiritual plane or someshit, it would've still been her. Could've been like Mary being impregnated by "god" making Matt a sorta Joseph-type character.
I stopped watching Arrow somewhere mid-way through season 2. Came to TV Club. Read this title. Whaaaaaat?
I'm on the fence. The pregnancy is kinda a big hint, it seems to me. They couldn't have children after trying for ten years then BOOM one night of sexual healing and she's preggers? I dunno sounds kinda miracle-y.
The two possibilities are that 1) she did wake up and they had consensual sex or 2) He had a psychotic break and believed she had woken up and that they had consensual sex.
Either way, nobody is saying it's okay to rape anyone. But it's also not as black and white as you seem to want to make it. You can't control your…
Maybe stop watching it?
If he had a psychotic break — which is what you've been talking about this entire time — then he was mentally ill at the time. He may have come out of it, but that's what a psychotic break is.
If a mentally ill person has broken from reality completely and is incapable of understanding or controlling his or her actions, then no, they cannot be held responsible.
"Matt legally did no wrong, but morally or ethically he did."
"Rape, like child abuse or sex with under age minors, would be the type of topics that you don't leave ambiguous in a sci fi mystery."
I'm using "it was written" because it doesn't need to be justified.
Wow. If fictional characters being raped is your biggest problem, you're doing pretty okay.
He didn't really have a choice. The Faith Militant is an army and Tommen doesn't actually have one. He doesn't even have the kingsguard. Most of them are away somewhere.
It's been established that people kill each other, and yet they keep doing it. Stupid writers!
