I’m a weber fanboy as well, their accessories are more expensive but work better and last longer. I got the performer back when they were only around $300 so I use the built in propane starter and that combined with the weber chimney makes starting charcoal nearly as easy as starting a gas grill.

If you’re using a chimney starter the smoke shouldn’t last long anyway. Especially if you're using the Weber chimney starter, they are significantly faster.

I can honestly say GT made me a better driver. I worked on a toll road once that had a courtesy truck that would go around and help with stuff like a flat or if you ran out of gas, and people actually did exactly this sometimes.
