I agree. I even kinda feel bad for this guy, becuase 1: maybe he wasn’t familiar with the area and 2: The cost/benefit analysis is obvious in retrospect but I can’t say I haven’t taken dumb shortcuts in a hurry that ended up being a bad idea later on. It’s no excuse, but stupid mistakes like this are going to keep on

What a classic example of penny wise and pound foolish... I don’t care if the alternate route would have added hours to his trip, that would obviously be cheaper than whatever they need to do to that crane to make it safe again.

Lots isn’t enough, it needs to be ALL of them. Law enforcement is the sort of job where we should have zero tolerance for those who pose a hazard to the public. a doctor or a pilot who made a decision as egregiously unsafe and unethical as this would lose their license. Why aren’t police officers held to a similar

Yeah but if you were a police captain you’d probably have that stuff on your car too.

Seems to me that this “flag” violates the US flag code, which seems a bit ironic. My cub scouts know better than to do this to a flag!

It’s actually really great for anyone who wants to buy one of these, becuase Ford is going to have a great margin on each Bronco they sell, but they’re probably going to have greater volume and lower margin on the Maverick. Huge volume on the low end car makes the numbers work becuase the per-unit cost of R&D costs

I’m quite sure they’ll show up soon. On the last article I got into an argument with a guy who was claiming that if we limit how police chase criminals their only option will be to stand idly by and watch criminals run away; literally a binary, all-or-nothing decision.

Well, he literally refers to himself in the third person as “Law Enforcement”, so unfortunately this is closer to literal truth than satire

It’s not about the color of her skin, it’s all about this guy’s ego - it’s all right there when she said she was going to pull over where it was safe and he tells her no, you pull over when I tell you to pull over. She disrespected him by not immediately bending to his will and he let that get in the way of him doing

They are rare, but the crappy loans that the dealer gets kickbacks on are exactly the type of loan that is more likely to have a prepayment penalty, so you definitely want to read the fine print on any loan that you plan on refinancing quickly.

I think watching the first few seasons shows support and shows that audiences want to watch shows that honestly and faithfully portrays people with different backgrounds and experiences than themselves. Personally I think that seeing other people’s experiences and perspectives can be very compelling television as long

The first three seasons are honestly pretty great. It’s sad to hear about these issues now, but it does seem that the biggest problems were in the fifth season. I’d say the seasons 1-3 are well worth watching.

I was wondering the same thing myself, not that it should matter becuase if it is racially motivated that’s wrong no matter the race / demographic group. From the comments it seems it’s young rural whites. Maybe it’s partially an image issue for some lawmakers? Since it’s known as the “Carolina Squat” perhaps there is

The bill would be more credible if it was defined in terms of alteration to the ride-height angle but that’s going to require trigonometry and I guess the lawmakers couldn’t handle that. It wouldn’t be hard to do a bit of math and make a table that breaks down the rule in terms of wheelbase, and the maximum allowable

Let’s just distract all of these people by telling them that Red from “Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption” wasn’t black.

Ok, I understand what you’re saying now. My guess would be that your cost for health insurance alone would be at least twice that in the US. You would have lower corporate taxes, but health insurance premiums will be much higher. And that’s just medical; most employers provide vision and dental insurance as well as

damn... that escalated quickly.

It wasn’t over then, and it isn’t over now!

Are you referring to the part that’s taken out of your paycheck? That’s your contribution to the insurance premiums, your employer also contributes to the premiums as well, and that’s the cost that makes employers not want to hire more full time employees. In the US healthcare costs are very high, but one nice thing

It’s the cost of the benefits for the additional employees. Your actual per-hour compensation for a 40 hour work week is quite a bit more than your hourly rate. If overtime gave you 50% more health insurance in addition to time and a half you can bet that would end pretty quickly.
