Didn’t that movie actually star Ben Carson? It’s difficult to tell; they look really similar for some reason. I can’t think why.

But who swallowed their own nose?!

Excellent! Always nice to find someone else who’s read this. I got a similar epiphany from the Principia Discordia, myself, and then tracked down and read the Illuminatus! Trilogy later on. Thoroughly enjoyable.

Small Gods by Terry Pratchett. I grew up in rural ‘Murica, surrounded by religious folk of varying types and levels of crazy. Small Gods was the first book I ever read that not only got me thinking critically about religion, but made me a little more sympathetic to the idea, and understanding of those that choose it

Humanity’s energy future: Solar panels, wind turbines, and 300-ton miniature star cores

Oh, man, the fuckin’ IPA Revolution. I’m fine with some moderate hoppiness, but IPAs are a race to the goddamn bottom. One day some brewer is just going to extract straight hop juice, mix it with grain alcohol, and make so much money from idiots who think the best beer flavor is ‘sour’.

Broadly, he thinks that there’ll be a period of strife and war, and then a “millennium” of godly Christian peace and prosperity, and then the last judgement. The Second Coming and the Rapture are placed at different points among these events depending

Agreed. Look at that line at the bottom of the comic page:

Well damnit. Even bad SFF can be enjoyable for me, but between that and the spoilers I’ll probably just let it drop. Or wait until I can get it via ILL or somesuch. Reading list is already far too long as is.

Higgins makes some interesting political points here, but that’s largely takes a back seat to the physics

It’s alright, we’ve seen this play out before:

Ah. So she didn’t actually go as Jessica Rabbit, but instead as a living personification of the Uncanny Valley. Pretty scary, I must admit.

Howsabout we just convince all the robots to vent upwards at the same time? It’s as convincing and well-thought-out a plan as this diamond dust thing is.

GODDAMMIT. For half a second you had me thinking it was this guy...
