The tabs versus spaces wars have been raging among programmers since the 60s. I have had seriously pedantic tech leads on either side of the debate.

Not a new release but I've become obsessed with the song "Black Star" by the English grindcore/death metal band Carcass. It's disposable in a way but it has this major key riff that is so incongruous to the death metal genre before it pivots to a classic heavy riff. I love it and I don't know why.

We quickly discovered that the first person you speak with at the insurance agency is not the person who is going to solve the problem for you. You need to jockey with them for a few minutes of their utter lack of help (they sometimes couldn't even find me in the system or else had outdated info etc) and then get

$600 iPhone versus $1,000,000 in live saving healthcare. Jason Chaffetz can kiss the fucking bricks.

Well said.

In late 2014 I thought I had the world's worst case of the flu. The next night it got worse - it felt like a belt was cinched around my waist and it was painful to move. I went to the emergency room the next day and passed out as I was about to enter a CAT scan machine. I woke up 4 weeks later to my beautiful wife's

This! A thousand times this!

Seems like a nice guy but there is just something about his 80s body of work that makes him the World's Most Punchable Actor in my opinion. Checkout his outright Dustin Hoffman impression in all of his roles (most prevalent in Less Than Zero where he might have been actually auditioning for the Graduate II). And

Ah, wasn't aware of that time shift. Makes sense for today's audience.

The kid's sequence is in the 50s which will be the focus of this movie and the adults sequence is set in 1985, the focus of next year's part 2.

"Black Star" by Carcass for the past few weeks. I know of no other band that can make a major key based song not only appropriate for death metal but actually sound damned evil.

As someone who listened to many of his interviews with Stern in the 90s it is my opinion that the tone of his voice and syntactic construction of sentences, as well as his ability to make a straight line to his intended point has decreased by half.

You are indeed stating a fact but it is far from fair. We are seeing a daily outrage or actual malfeasance coming out of this White House whereas you had to reach to 2004 to point out a scandal involving a news report that could potentially help the opposition candidate. Sorry, false equivalency.

True dat - hugely disconcerting and the Today Show plays about 3 hours of that year's broadcast each 9/11 anniversary. When the North Tower went down I was stunned at how composed they were and not screaming like the Hindenburg announcer. I was in downtown Manhattan that day (but miles north of the Financial

Yes, but in a non professional environment. I worked as a bartender in the late 80s/early 90s, almost always in a restaurant setting. Let's just say that waitresses have a thing for the bartender just like the customers do. It was an absolutely incredible stretch of time for me and it probably delayed my entry into

It really depends on the type of office it is. If you work at an internet startup that is comprised mostly of 20/early 30 somethings then guess what? Everyone is sleeping with each other and there will be six marriages and two births during the time you are there (this is from personal experience during the dot.com

Word on the vegan street is that apple cider vinegar, especially the unfiltered kind, is very good at gut bacteria regulation or some such thing that is probably already regulated fine naturally by our own biochemistry.

The Hottie Over There. Rapidly turned into a hip-hop term for slut.

Reminds me of the 2004 NYC protest against the Republican Convention at Madison Square Garden (it was also essentially an anti-Iraq War protest). I was with a group of people I just fell in with when all of a sudden we started getting pelted with garbage and a group of red faced blue collar, Staten Island types on

I am re-reading A Game of Thrones and just might go all the way and re-read all of ASOIAF. Two things that struck me upon re-reading: the names of all the various houses of Westeros are certainly easier to keep sorted after years of exposure to the HBO show as well having read the books in the past. Secondly, and more
