Well here in Sweden, the companies do not pay for the leave, the government does. Most companies top up the leave and offer the 20% gap (gov pays 80%) for 6 months. So technically Spotify is giving its US workers more than it gives its Swedish ones.

That’s awesome! and great because you still get the value of social time with other babies for the little one, but more personalized/flexible childcare!

What’s sad is that my kids really don’t remember her much. It sort of breaks my heart thinking back to the end of her time with us. They were so attached, we worried how to break the news and transition. She was with my daughter from the day after she was born, even though I was off work. I mean it was like her own

Your daughter is fine! Mine were with a nanny at about that age. She stopped by to give my son a birthday present the other day. He’s 12, and she hasn’t worked for us since he was 5. That’s how much she cared about them— I used to say that I knew in my soul that she would walk in front of a moving train for them. We

It also sounds like a problem with our healthcare system that she couldn’t leave her job because she was the one with the benefits.

Yeah, this is my thing. They feel really nice, but some of them have too much slip/emollient feeling for me, and can migrate easily. This is true of new Kir Royale, but not true of my previous one, which is thicker and maybe slightly more matte.

Use liner, got it! Thanks!

True story: I’ve seen someone be given a hard time for drinking a non-alcoholic beer when the scolder KNEW the beer was non-alcoholic. Because na beer is .02% alcohol or some such, they felt it was sure to doom the fetus to FAS. People can be so fucking stupid.

Haha, yeah, you were working there when I was in grade school, my year at the Antique Store was evenings and weekends during my senior year of hs. Everything you’re saying is so revelatory, though, because although, as I say, I never “experienced” anything, the place definitely had a WEIRD feeling after dark. (I did

lol I know this thread is 4 years old but w/e, I’ve been reading through it with Jez reposting links to the scary stories recently. I knew by the end of your first sentence that we have the same hometown. =) I worked at the Colony Mill back in 2006/2007 and I never experienced or knew of anything out of the ordinary

I used to work in a very remote town, while living in my hometown 30 miles away. I was 20 and my Dad had just secured me my very first car to make the commute, it was a mid 1990’s Thunderbird with oxidizing paint, leaked every fluid I put into it, and had shitty gas mileage. Needless to say I was in love.

I came across these stories last year and I found them hard to get through, I guess I’m a wuss, but last January something really weird happened to me and I’ve wanted to share it ever since.

A few bits of background are necessary for my story, so please forgive the long preface. I promise there’s not a “and I said to the cabbie, yo homes, smell ya later” at the end.

My parents live in the house where my grandmother’s good friend lived until the day she died. (Peacefully, of old age-type stuff).

as previously stated, I’m here for the beans. so I love the secret inclusion of refried. sneaky beans!

Look, feminists. I love us. We’re a great bunch, for the most part. But Christ on a cracker, are we literal and judgmental when it comes to song lyrics. Everything is always taken to the nth degree, to the worst possible interpretation. Couldn’t this song just be about someone who’s taking a look back on her life and

Banila Clean-It Zero is my favorite. Works like a charm and only $20 (or $16 on sale right now, it looks like). There’s also a “Purity” version of it for people with sensitive skin, but the original (pink) is my go to and has never caused my sensitive skin/rosacea any problems. Smells good, too!

lately i’ve just been following it with this aura cacia day serum (at night, even) and my skin is better than it’s been in years, no moisturizer or toner needed http://www.gnscentral.com/products/aura-…

Yeah, the cult of Pumpkin Spice is very cute and all, but they got nuthin’ on the Peppermint Mocha Army, in which I am a 5-start General. Get your pumpkin crap out of my way and dump some peppermint on me!

Let me just get the Pinkham’s Law out of the way, because I don’t see any yet and I’m SURE it’ll happen-

ARGLE BARGLE BUT RESTAURANT MANAGERS WORK HARD TOO AND NEVER GET TIPS DID YOU KNOW RESTARANT MONAGERS CARE ONLY ABOUT THE SUCCESS OF THE RESTESRAUNT AND ARE SELFLESS ANGELS TO WORK AS HARD AS THEY DO FOR THE
