Hoo boy, are you lucky you’re a large dude. I’m thinking that would have ended poorly for a small woman.

I grew up in a tiny rural community in central Indiana. During that time my family became close to a Mennonite family who lived near town. Let’s call them the Smiths. So the Smiths lived on a small farm with a menagerie of animals. Chickens, goats, horses, etc... and once or twice a year they would travel back to the…
Ohh come on man this is so obviously fiction
“I felt so uncomfortable hearing a woman talk about her abusive experience that I had to try to fix it so we could forget about it.”
Fuck Bateman and the rest of the AD dudes. They showed the world what they’re like when they’re together and how they dismiss and talk over their women coworkers. True colours.
Ok, here goes. Writing this out makes me want to barf.
Around five years ago, I was a TA for an undergraduate literature course that had 300 students; there were two TAs and our job was mostly to do grading (sigh) and hand out exams and set up PowerPoints and stuff of that nature. Basically, assist the professor in all manner of tedium while she lectured. Due to a…
About five years ago, my husband Adam and I decided that it was finally time to start looking to purchase a house. We had always talked about buying an older, fixer upper home because we’ve had the idea that they hold more charm and character. Plus we can appreciate a place that has it’s own quirks and we love the…
There are over 2000 posts now! I’m going to add my story, though I doubt many of you will see it.
A story of what happens when you co-habit with “ghosts” and my experience of the “shadow people” phenomena.

My work in tissue transplantation would naturally make most people think that creepy things must happen all the time. In reality, I rarely feel uneasy with what I am doing, and in fact have done the procedures so many times, it takes a lot to make me feel uncomfortable. One incident, I published previously. The…
When this happened, I was living in a small house with my boyfriend (now my husband) and our two cats. I was especially close with our male cat, my baby. My boyfriend always joked that he followed me around like a little dog. He was always happy to see me, always wanted to cuddle me, and would even lick my hair when…
The house where I grew up was pretty new - way newer than any of the other houses on the block. A typical one-story ranch house that you might see in any stretch of American suburbia. Likewise, all the furniture in the house was pretty par for the course. My room had a little-kid bed, a nightstand, a table and chairs…
I’m not a good storyteller and I’m not sure this is scary but here it goes.
Long story short I was laid off from my job and broke up with my live-in boyfriend on the same day. My best friend Rickie and her fiancé let me stay in their detached garage for free, so I moved my whole apartment in there. It was actually pretty cozy except for the plywood and rafters above my head.
This just happened, on the 1st of this month.
I’d heard mumblings growing up of a strange incident involving my family and a famous murder, but my grandma refused to discuss it and I knew better than to ask around. After my great-aunt died and left behind 200 pages of memoirs, I finally got the full story.
This particular story completely splits my listeners. Some of my friends are horrified; my brother became furious at ME (in a protective sort of way) when I told him it; but still others don’t see it as a big deal, or at least, do not find it the least alarming. In a few cases, people are quick to defend the non-scary…
This isn’t my story, personally, but it’s one that has kicked around my family for so long that it definitely feels like it’s mine. It’s been told and re-told, but I do think that the central details are very solid.
This story is from my mother’s side of the family. Everyone who lived through it has a story.
