Just adds replay value!
Just wanted to say that “as meaninglessly sentimental as one of those automatically generated Facebook montages” is one of the best lines I can remember reading in a review here. Just nailed it.
I feel that completely, even if I’m a straight dude. Pretty sure Natalie Portman in Attack of the Clones was my sexual awakening.
Agreed. I think Adam Driver in particular does a really great job with the lightsaber fights - he brings a certain kind of raw physicality that makes them feel more real and intense. He almost plays it like the lightsaber has the heft of a broadsword. Maybe that’s not accurate physics-wise, but it makes the fights…
I think if you accept the whole fertility crisis thing, it’s not that implausible. It’s hard to really predict how something that devastating would affect a society. Smaller shifts than that have led to vast changes in history. It’s true that the geopolitcs of the world are rather thinly sketched, but I’m not sure…
I am 100% there for Christian Bale with a lightsaber. Hardly care what the character is, good, evil, whatever, but he would sell the shit out of a lightsaber duel.
It’s an ambiguous ending to be sure, but a very good one.
I’ve been wondering if we’ve reached over-saturation with comic book movies for like 5 years now. No signs of slowing down yet, and if anything it’s doubled down with the onslaught of Marvel TV shows and the like.
Can you imagine how much worse the prequels could have been without a John Williams score?
Yeah, I kind of agree. The plot of I is absurd, and Jar-Jar plus Anakin are fairly insufferable, but the actual setpieces are pretty solid. Podracing is fun, the underwater part is well-imagined despite it being a high Jar-Jar dosage, Darth Maul is viscerally effective as a villain though he is sort of a non sequitur.
Less dialogue is always better when George Lucas is the one writing it.
The real question is, what will be worse: this or Amazon’s Lord of the Rings adaption(s)?
It’s been said before a ton, but the Trump kids are all a version of A.J. and/or Meadow Soprano.
Games: Any Zelda, especially Wind Waker. Also just about any Pokemon, though I’m partial to the first three generations/remakes. Really Nintendo in general is where I turn.
Just as the prophecy foretold.
something something write what you know
I love Mad Men to death but somehow, Matt Weiner being a creep isn’t altogether shocking.
Aww man, this is such a bummer assuming it’s legit. Arrested Development is more important to me than any of, say, Kevin Spacey or Bill Cosby’s work, and Weinstein was behind the scenes so I can kind of put that aside while watching anything he produced.
Definitely could be. Mad Men did a truly fantastic job with most of its main female characters, but that show’s writers’ room was (I think) majority female, so that kind of makes sense. Weiner on his own could be much shakier.
