I honestly thought that Resistance 2 was the superior entry in the series. I absolutely loved the coop multiplayer experience. It had classes, levels, individual upgrades, and randomized paths and objectives. It was a much better multiplayer game than L4D, imo, and I was saddened that this was dropped in Resistance 2.
