Never argue with a pig fascist because they’ll drag you into the mud and beat you with experience.

Man, true story.

“ Libertarians, Tea Partiers, Alt-righters, Neo-confederates, and literal Nazis”

Right. These days, it’s Republicans, Libertarians, Tea Partiers, Alt-righters, Neo-confederates, and literal Nazis that are worshipping these statues to white supremacy, not just Republicans.

While that’s fair, let’s not kid ourselves into thinking that Republicans don’t constitute the lions share when it comes to racist politicians in the Age of Trump.

Because it’s a deflection, and any deflection is better than addressing the original question... because the answer to the original question is always “because I’m a racist”.

This is how they keep their voters willfully ignorant forever: just make up a history that better suits your narrative, and be confident that your voters will parrot the lie until the opposition finally gives up.

“name one kkk member that votes republican”
i post a picture of david duke.
“yeah, but not him.”

Not only don’t they acknowledge it, you frequently see them try to preemptively discredit it. “Don’t start with that ‘Southern Strategy’ stuff, because it’s BS.” is something I’ve seen repeated frequently in comments, almost as if it's something they've seen on TV.

Interesting, racism and slavery started before any political party. Not sure why this is always the go to for these people. White supremacy has no political affiliation....

RIGHT.

Democrats existed in the 1600s?

ANOTHER REPUBLICAN not acknowledging a party shift and pretending that the kkk doesnt vote republican.

Nah, Clooney was perfection here.  O Brother was the first movie that subverted his leading man looks and confidence, and probably changed the trajectory of Clooney’s career.

HOT DAMN, it’s an article about the Soggy Bottom Boys!

We will adhere to all protocols

Football fans and Trump supporters have a lot of overlap. They wanna go sit in their stadium so bad? Fine, let them go and bug bomb themselves with Covid.

Yeah, that short scene/song got me into John Hartford.

This remains one of my top three Coen movies. And while I may not think the film is eclipsed by the soundtrack, it is inseparable, and foundational to the film’s greatness.

Do not give white people the satisfaction of caving to their cries for individuality! Don’t you dare do (not all™) until hundreds of thousands of individuals give up something of the privilege they've enjoyed COLLECTIVELY!
