Yeah, this reads much more like a kid with a mental illness that happened to get fixated on a meme, rather than a kid who just had an unhealthy hobby. I read elsewhere that apparently she "spoke" to Slender Man — that's a kid with an untreated, severe mental illness.

I wonder if her parents thought her (the main offender—she seems like the ringleader here) Slender Man obsession was just something kids these days are into. Her statement exhibits signs of a serious break from reality. This entire situation is just so sad.

Gotta keep producing new Catholics in an endless stream of exploitable children. Otherwise, overbearing old men won't have anyone around to use for the goodly purpose of inflating their own massive egos.

Did someone say accessorizing with babies? Maybe this lady was right, Jesus does have her back.

I love it when (supposedly) celibate men who have no financial responsibilities lecture normals about life.

I mean, in my case I'm just joking around but I do like the study and think it's interesting. I think I'm like 50/50 with these articles. I do plenty of serious comments, but after getting my comment feed shit on last week I'm feeling lazy. :-P

I felt very attacked

Journalism standards? It's a blog; no journalism standards required

If they gave a speech before hand about girls' sinful thigh-flesh, that would be one thing, but it sounds like she's assuming the dress code is inherently sexist because it's different for boys and girls, which, as the reality is boys' and girls' fashion tends to be different, having the same standard for both doesn't

I once got busted when my bra strap slipped out and became visible. Instead of putting on a sweatshirt like I was told to, I just took the bra off from underneath my shirt right there in the middle of the commons and stuffed it into my backpack. After all, there was no rule saying I had to wear the damn thing. The

You're so right. What do these girls think; that they're entitled to respectful treatment?! Fucking idiots. They don't understand real oppression.

yeah, all Africans are far too poor and desperate to care about fashion. ALL OF THEM.

Right and so that means it's entirely illegitimate for a young adult girl in Canada to assert herself when she feels she's been treated unfairly. We shouldn't encourage teenagers to stand up for themselves and challenge the status-quo in a peaceful way because it's really hard for kids in Africa?

Men are an inferior species. If the sight off a little skin or a bra strap distracts you then you really should not be allowed to run the world or handle any machinery

I'm convinced Gawker.com commenters are mostly people who outgrew 4chan, but have still had their attitudes shaped by it. Jezebel is normally better than that, but these types of stories generally attract commentariat from the mothership site.

You're responding to a classic Jezebel troll (an act that is "classic" in its own way).

Yeah, I feel the same way about anti-vaxxers. Suggesting that it's better to risk your child dying from a preventable illness than risk them developing autism seems pretty insulting to autistic people (besides showing that you have your priorities totally messed up).

Beyond the ignorance, beyond the myopic selfishness, that is the most upsetting thing to me about parents who don't vaccinate over unfounded autism fears: they would, quite literally, rather have a dead child than a child that is not their idea of "perfect."

Can people please stop making Autism THE WORST THING THAT CAN HAPPEN IN THE WORLD OMG!!!
