I traded my STI in on a more normal car last year. I was very surprised at how much my insurance dropped.

It’s actually not that uncommon for some small electronics, depending on the circuit design. Basically the device can be designed such that it can’t switch between power modes on the fly. 

Haha. You’re right. I don’t think he would have been able to catch me on foot.  He actually was in front of me and stepped out into the road to flat me down. I mean, it was a campus ticket, so no points or anything like that. Still, that was money I’d rather have spent on beer.

If they were anything like the rechargeable batteries I had at the time, their capacity also sucked after the first couple of charges. Rechargeable battery tech back then was really not that great. I think I figured I needed about 4 sets to be able to keep up with the way the GG sucked them dry.

Worse I was ever caught for was three times the limit.

I had the opposite experience when shopping for my STI. I made an appointment, only to show up, be asked to wait, and then told that they don’t let people test drive STIs.

I just wanted to say that not everybody reading your comments wants to say “or you could just do the thing you just said you didn’t want to do”.

This. We had a kid this year and my wife insisted on a 3-Row. The Highlander ended up at the top of our list due to what felt like better interior build quality, a comfortable drive, and proven Toyota reliability. My wife loves it, as it’s the best car she’s ever owned.

Anecdotal, but a couple of years ago I overheard one coworker complaining to another about how she had just gotten a ticket for texting and driving. She said, and I kid you not, “In the 80's I used to drive with a cigarette in one hand and a Coke in the other, and that was legal!”

I feel like they really buried the lede here with this one. I saw the guy’s screen name pop up, AWD Cutlass, and immediately thought “Ok, this guy’s an idiot poser, there’s no such thing as an AWD Cutlass.”

Honestly, it’s been so long at this point that I’d pretty much forgotten about this one and have lost interest in the series entirely. I’ve got too much sitting in my backlog to go and dig out the first three issues to remind myself WTF happened previously.
