A really long display name that indicates I like cars.

Haha.   Yup.  Just throwing out there circumstances that I’ve encountered.  I used to be a frequent flyer (consulting job) and can only begin to imagine the overall impact such a tax would have on many areas of business.

But how does that work when my long flight consists of two short flights.  IE, a lot of AA flights for me start with a short 1 hour flight to a nearby hub, and then a longer flight to my destination.  Do I get penalized on that short flight because I don’t live in a hub city?

Yep, which brings about the point that, because video conferencing is so readily available, you are almost guaranteed that the folks traveling are traveling because they actually need to.

Ooooorrr you can look at it this way: buy a used Wrangler, drive it for a few years, and then sell it for the same price. I mean, not this one. This is CP with the 4-banger. But if you buy a TJ or YJ that’s priced correctly, you should be able to sell it for more or less the same price.  The price is pretty inelastic

I think it really depends on whether this is your daily or a “third car”. My YJ came with the soft-top and half doors, and I really didn’t care. 9 months out of the year, the top and doors sat in my garage. For the three months out of the year that the top and doors were on, the car wasn’t a daily, so it wasn’t a big

I’m giving you a hard time. I owned a 2015 for 5 years. Loved it, but gave it up for a number of reasons, not the least of which because I got tired of people always wanting to race me.  It got old...

By that logic, no Lincoln or Cadillac built in the last 30 years is a luxury car because they share a platform with a down market car.

What about piston rings or crank bearings? Those are still wear items, right? ;)

I actually run into a different, but still similar issue with a lot of cars. As best as I can describe it, my preferred seating position results in needing more hip to knee room than some folks. This results in cars where , unless I want to “straight arm” the steering wheel (not comfortable, less control of the car) my

Not knowing their product isn’t an excuse for bullshitting a customer. I can tolerate ignorance when car shopping. I get that I am looking at one specific model while the salesman needs to be knowledgeable about all models and trims. But I won’t tolerate bullshitting and outright lies from any car salesman.

Had a Toyota salesman try to basically pull the same kind of BS on me with the Supra about 2 months ago. I was actually there to buy a family hauler, so I called him out on his bluff about the Supra not being a mass produced car and he just doubled down on the bullshit. Needless to say, we didn’t buy our Highlander

Bro, have you ever actually driven one? They were and are terrible cars to drive. I agree that not everybody wants a BMW an that’s fine. But there were much better cars for the money when they came out.

Fair enough.  I’ll be the first to admit that I may not be remembering it correctly.  :)

I don’t really remember it that way, but I will also say that due to a number of reasons, I probably didn’t watch as many F1 races in that era as I do today.  I was in college from ‘99 to ‘03 and watching F1 on TV was not something I always was able to make a priority of.

They may have tied Ferrari’s constructor’s titles, but I feel like that achievement should come with an asterisk. Passing in the modern era of F1 is much more difficult than it was from 1999 - 2004.  That lends me to be, well, a lot less excited for Mercedes than I was Ferrari back then.  It feels kind of like Ferrari

As long as we’re speaking anecdotally I do have to wonder if an advanced driver has ever been mistakenly found at fault because he didn’t just jam on the brake pedal in a straight line.

I actually spent time to work on an optimized skill plan for training toons for a few specific support roles that could bypass some of that. It was meant for alts, but it was a godsend for those of us who wanted to rapidly train up, say, an Orca pilot.

It’s a shame that you never found our corp, then. I believe that the aggro mechanic has changed these days, but we used to run regular L4 missions with kitchen sink fleets for our noobs. The vets like me would fly in, aggro all of the rats, then tell the rest of the fleet to come in and participate. Lowest level frig

Oh yeah. I remember that snow storm. Through some crossed communications, I had to drive in to another office for a 3:00 presentation. Which means that, despite my best efforts, I didn’t get out of there until ~4:30 and I still had to pick my wife up on the way home. (I still had summer tires on my car, so we car

By that logic Houston, the fourth largest city in America by population, isn’t “a large city”.  Fact is, once you get outside of the densely packed eastern seaboard, there are a lot of large cities with poorly developed public transit.
