Correct; according to WSL documents later released post-disaster, the engineers cut numerous corners in order to save on construction costs as well as get the ship complete and on its way before deadline. Had any of those been properly implemented as planned, it’s possible the ship would’ve not sunk/not so many lives

I think in the Focus' case, they wanted an excuse for the body line on the door and went a little overboard by creating the fake chrome accent on the fender.

Part of the blame probably does lie with the person who sold them the car, who maybe should have gone over the basics of keyless entry rules (which, I freely admit, has some issues) and at least made it clear that there's no way they can get trapped in the car and almost die.
