This?
This?
Huh. If I hadn’t spotted this review on the front page I’d have had no idea the AV Club was covering Ghosted. Discoverability of episodic TV reviews is awful now.
Bit of trivia: The Young Ones had a musical guest on every episode so the BBC would classify it as “light entertainment” instead of comedy and therefore give Elton and co. a bigger budget to work with.
YES. Also, Madness performing House of Fun at The Kebab and Calculator. Pretty much every musical performance on The Young Ones, actually.
Motorhead on the Young Ones
In no particular order:
When I was in junior high, I doubled up on the weekend and caught Fridays (for Rich Hall) and Saturday Night Live (for Eddie Murphy). I always remember this completely idiosyncratic performance by King Crimson, and my mind was further blown when my uncle played me their old heavy, prog-rock albums.
Fair enough. They are a reminder that there’s still so much beauty in the world, despite Hollywood
All I can remember from my 20s was Al Capone dancing the Charleston on top of a flagpole.
What are you talking about? It was an episode of Saturday Night Live, with the title “The David S. Pumpkins Animated Halloween Special”. That’s how my DVR caught it.
“Ew, raisins!” *launches the box to the moon*
Was it pointless? Absolutely. Did it make a lick of sense? Not even close. Am I gonna watch it again next year high out of my mind? Probably.
And “Sugar Honey” used to be what I called my secretary, before HR made me take all those courses on me not doing that.
Grover Cleveland made lewd remarks to my great-great-grandmother on two non-consecutive occasions.
In his defense, he had a choice between the two things old people can be, and he didn’t choose “publicly racist”.
“Why did you go all in on David Pumpkins?”
I did.
I very much wanted more information about how David S Pumpkins came about.
I think people here make far too much of the David S. Pumpkins/Kevin Roberts thing.
I can enjoy both of them.
And also Space Pants, the part of the trilogy of weird shouting that always gets left out.
It will be the secret recipe of 11 herbs and spices. Trump got his acronyms mixed up.
“But remember, it’s still business as usual at Unpainted Arizona! If you can find lower prices anywhere, my name STILL ain’t Nathan Arizona!”
Moments that definitely deserve mention:
1) Young Randall thinking his grandmother shot MLK. Hilarious.
2) The shoutout to The Handmaid’s Tale, which beat TIU for Best Drama at the Emmys, with Toby being offended that Kevin suggested he get back to watching THT. Also hilarious.
