I loved the world-exploring elements of the original Sonic Adventure (weird mix of humans and animals notwithstanding), though I might have been the only one. If this can bring a better version of that feeling of exploration at light speed, this could be great.

Hey, it’s not his fault ben carson was lonely and needed that company in that particular immolated dumpster.

Counterpoint: overturning the court’s decision would set a terrible precedent as well. If new evidence arises naturally, that’s one thing, but in this case, you have a prosecutor giving assurances, and then someone confessing based in part on those assurances. If it’s overturned, it’s easy to envision a scenario where

Depends on what happens to Thor after Love and Thunder. (And of course that’s not getting into the whole morass of whether you count major roles in non-solo films, or the D+ series like Loki, since that would just become arbitrary very quickly.)

“Lindsay-Hogg, a colorfully blue-blood raconteur who comes across like a young Orson Welles in disguise”

I don’t know if this is intended to be a sly refence to the long-standing rumor that he’s Welles’s biological son, but if not it’s an amusingly apt comparison. (If it is intentional, touché.)

I do like the show, and thought the character moments were pretty good in the special, but some of the jokes really didn’t land. In particular, the whole thing about Jimmy making non-jokes was a clear reference to the BS talking point of “comedy is dead because you can’t make fun of anyone anymore,” which wasn’t

Is art good because people like it, or because of some independent quality of the work?

Came here to say this.

What, no love for The Great Escape?

Great catch, though it wouldn’t shock me if they CGI’d out a different character from the MCU (or Venom) that they’re trying to keep as a surprise. I think you’re dead-on that the lizard is getting kicked by someone, though.

Honestly, I’ll be fine as long as they aren’t killing off MJ. Zendaya has proven (albeit mostly in other roles) that she’s an excellent actress, and I could see her really getting to flex her muscles in later films given the opportunity. That fall in the trailer is clearly supposed to make us think of Gwen. (Though my

Sure, but that’s only because the whole “death of the first-born” thing happened then. This is prime time for some insect plagues.

To be fair, Egypt does seem like the most appropriate place for biblical plagues to be happening.

There are exceptions - Logan and The Dark Knight come to mind, and within the MCU The Winter Soldier was at least somewhat more interesting, even if it did devolve into the expected CGI explosions. In general, though, those stand out in part because they are indeed the exceptions.

The audience: “well, thank goodness they didn’t do the Spider-Man origin story again. We’ve seen it done to death, and it’s refreshing to have a fully-formed Spidey whose stories aren’t largely about reflecting on his backstory.”

I love the logo personally. It’s very 90s in a way that I think cues up the exact kind of fun absurdity that the comics can produce at their best.

And? This is Sam Elliot we’re talking about. He wouldn’t let a little thing like that stop him.

Let’s not and say we did. Unless they bring back Sam Elliot. I’ll watch him in anything.

“you have to recognize that the demographic for Disney+ is basically kids, parents/grandparents and Marvel/StarWars dorks.”

I loved KOTOR I and II, couldn’t wait for SWTOR, and played it extensively for the first six months or so. Then I went to law school, and when I got out, never found a reason to go back to it. Part of that was that as an MMO, it had simply moved on (and I didn’t have a spare 2000 hours to invest to get back up to
