5th: Anytime Tesla says something is going to happen in 3 years, the chance of that thing happening within 3 years is close to zero. How do they continue to build hype with these sorts of announcements when they never deliver on their promises? People are waking up to the BS, and it’s reflected in the stock price

They’re actually pretty good with their offers on used stuff, too. I’ll take less money on the sale if it means not dealing with Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace nut jobs.

Caravana and Carmax are growing for one reason. Used car dealers suck. They are dishonest, high pressure, pains in the ass to deal with and everyone is sick of it. I know I can probably get the car cheaper somewhere else, but I don’t care. I want to go buy the car and not feel like I need to take a bath in Clorox

Bingo.

The concept is clearly profitable,  but the owners are keeping the profits for themselves instead of allowing the business to show the profit.

Well, yeah. Get investors to give you tons of cash, fail miserably, keep the cash with no consequences. That’s how things work now.

Apparently, I’ve been going about this life thing all wrong. Instead of doing hard work, I should have been coming up with grandiose yet unprofitable business ideas to make money.

This is one of the fundamental problems with modern capitalism. It shouldn’t be possible to make billions off an unprofitable concept.

If I had a $55,000 budget for a toy, it would be very tempting to splurge another $10,000 or so to get a C8 Corvette that will run circles around the Supra.

Yeah, different species. No cannibalism.

A T-Rex eating a Velociraptor is technically not cannibalism because they aren’t the same species.

I was planning to sell my manual 135i because I have too many cars. Yesterday, I took it out on a spirited drive in the santa cruz mountains - to pick up 50 lbs of tomatoes - with the kids. One of them threw up. But I had a goddamned blast and changed my mind on the sale.

GM needs to do something with their Truck.

I saw it several times while shopping for a project car a few years ago. Pissed me off every single time. And the most maddening part is that it must work occasionally, or else they’d stop doing it.

IF ITS IN ALL CAPS AND GRAMMAR BAD WALK AWAY

A few years back I listed my Dodge Ram Sport for about half private-sale, fair value at the time because I needed it gone asap for a combination of reasons that aren’t worth explaining. It was in pretty decent shape but I made it clear it was going as is because I didn’t have time or the place to fix the few odds and

Here’s the response you’ll get from the “seller” if you reply to those ads:

You can get plenty of good used cars around $2,000. It just has to be a Chevy Cobalt or other non-Toyota 15 year old economy car.

You should not buy out your lease because your are under miles, over miles or they gave you a discount. You should buy out you lease if the price is at or below fair market value.

I know this is a savvy crowd, but I thought I’d share my “is this ad bullshit” approach.
