Many years ago I worked for a Tier 2 supplier of airbags. If we made ANY change prior to shipment without receiving approval from our customer AND providing functional validation, our SQE would be on the phone the next day and possibly even on a plane to pay you a visit.

So, your bracket that’s covered in silicone to keep it from backing out despite the fact that it’s tight. The groove on that pin would indicate to me that there’s some kind of clip that’s supposed to go on there to hold it in. Can you not get some kind of clip? Or, maybe drill a hole through it, put a washer on it,…

I’d probably think it was funnier had I not had to spend 10 + hours disassembling and reassembling my vehicle to correct the gaps and alignment.

I find myself wondering if David made the right choice in welding/grinding a steel replacement for the cast aluminum bracket instead of doing a backyard foundry aluminum sand cast to make a new bracket.
Great job fabbing that bracket! Whenever I have to weld up something like that the heat distortion always ruins my pieces.
These don’t seem like major screw ups to me. Shit happens, especially with that bracket having been Gerry-rigged (he he he) with a washer instead of a proper bushing.
