I have sparse experience with Autobahn, but in my book the main benefit is not to drive fast but to be able to hold a brisk pace without having to watch for cops constantly.

Just an anecdote:
It is not much the energy content that differs, rather that when the engine detects knock it will advance (retard? I always mix them up) ignition to prevent it, thus running less efficient.
Ethanol is less detrimental to rubber than gasoline.

Okay, you are right.
Thing is, we come “educated” in the sense that we know the tech specs, the mileage, et cetera - some are like me and anally look up what VIN number series are commonly affected by what flaws and recalls on used cars - but we are there to see if we LIKE the car.
