I skipped the Oscars because I was over their crap this year and because I needed to watch The Swimmer for my research. Do you know who is fucking amazing in that film? Joan effing Rivers. Oscars, this is yet another example of why I am over your bullshit!

Makes me laugh every time.

Does the Joan Rivers snub qualify as shade? Judge Kara…?

for being in the entertainment game Hollywood is notorious for having nearly zero sense of humour so you could see the Joan Rivers snub coming a mile away. It'd be funny to see how she would be handling it today (from hell because who wants to be bored to tears in heaven?)

Joan Rivers committed the dual sins of being female *and* focusing on comedy. The Academy could have overlooked one, but both? No way they could do that.

I love Bob's Burgers and think it's an hilarious, well-written show. I love the characters. I love Tina.

Craig Ferguson either has an asterisk next to his Scottish ranking or is listed on a qualified list, such as "Stuff from Scotland Ranked". He rescinded his Scottish card for US citizenship, his accent has slipped away, and he is sober. So we can't meet up with him in a pub to listen to his brogue over a glass of 20+

For the most part, they do. The goal, which everyone seems to be ignoring here, is that we want to have the safest pool of donors possible. People's feelings do not trump public safety.

OH MY GOD SCOTCH EGGS OBVS ARE ON THE LIST, TOP 10 SHIT.

Cmon Craig Ferguson!

Scottish stuff, ranked:

I haaaaate movies like precious and beasts of the southern wild. It's like "poverty porn"

"Think things can't get worse? OH THEY CAN."

Actually, at that time—until the mid-80s and Cher, really—all the celebs just bought dresses off the rack and did their own makeup for the Oscars. (ETA: Occasionally, a costume designer they worked with would make something up for them—like in the Edith Head studio days.) Many of them talk about it—Meryl Streep, Jodie

I enjoy parts and think that much of the show's charm is how mundane and boring it is. I think, however, that the characters are really uneven and trying really hard to fit stereotypes (except Richie). I'd probably still watch it even if I weren't recapping! (I do wish it were more diverse. There is like one asian man

This is fascinating, but why does the headline only refer to mothers when most of the examples are parents conspiring together to harm their childen for profit? Isn't that what the author is talking about at the end? Not putting women on a pedestal?
