Admittedly I dont know a lot about game servers but the tech talks they did seemed to focus on that a bit saying it could dissolve lag by freeing up the consoles need to do tiny redundant functions to require less CPU and bandwidth for primary functions. Sounds cool.

What about when those apps malfunction and need to be reinstalled or updated? So indefinitely may not be the best word. it doesnt need to be connected at all time, however it does require frequent connections to the internets for optimal performance.
