I believe in your ability to pull it off

This is also true for hobbies that turn into professions. They’re fine with you being a photographer when they meet you, but wow, do they get salty when you become a photographer in front of their eyes.

I wish I’d read this before I strapped on this jaunty codpiece.

The British lost more men in one day at the Somme than the US did in 10 years in Vietnam. No wonder they still remember that war. The US just starts another one and adds the last one to our list.

I mean, just given the loss of life in WW1 in Britain and Europe compared to the US, would suggest yes. WW1 is still our Great War. The number of men lost is still staggering and the country is littered with memorials. I think it stands to reason that it would be more interesting to the countries who were the most

DeGeneres agreed, making an on-air plea to the school district to reconsider its policy. Then, with help from Alicia Keys and Shutterfly, the daytime host presented Deandre with a $20,000 scholarship.

That’s fucking terrible, and shame on his employer! That said, healthcare should not be tied to employment.

LOL at “a few grand at most.” My last job transition where I needed COBRA I got a quote of $1,300 a month! That would have been $3,900 for three months, not including other healthcare costs like copays and deductibles. This was 2012, and health insurance as obviously only skyrocketed since then. I was luckily in a

My son works 50+ hours a week in a salaried position. His employer does not offer health insurance coverage because it’s cheaper for them to just pay the penalties.

Big fan of that book/philosophy. The thing I try to remember is to balance the work and rest times. Don’t skip a break because you feel like you’re on a roll, because you’ll end up burning out at the point where everything is half clean.

Can confirm.

One philosophy akin to this when procrastinating is when you have way too many things that “need to get done”.

The thing is, we’re bad at estimating. I always figured cleaning my desk would be an hour’s job.

Maybe your wife would like if you did something for 10 minutes, twice?

My wife would be the first to tell you that there are things I am unable to do for 20 minutes.

Unfuck Your Habitat has a similar plan.  Set timer (usually 20 minutes or 45 minutes). Clean anything until the time goes off.  Rest for 10 minutes or 15 minutes.  Repeat.  Has helped me in the past.  Guess it’s time to start again.

This is great advice

I’ve been using similar I saw on Erin Ryan’s Twitter – you can do just about anything for 20 minutes
I use it for stuff that needs doing in the house

I’m not saying 20 or 10 minutes is better, but that it is very workable advice

I cried my eyes out in the most appreciative way. I admire your and Congresswoman Pressley’s candour and courage, and certainly not just in relation to your alopecia.

I am truly grateful she came through with her story here vs elsewhere, particularly as she’s getting comfortable.

Having worked at a bunch of colleges, the story of the athletes and their views still resonates with me. I’ve known a lot of kids that got an entirely useless degree because, while it was largely covered by a scholarship, their selections were limited by coaches/administrators. I’ve even seen DIII coaches, with no
