I’m older, graduated from high school in the 80s, was in college in the PNW in the late 80s, early 90s: we never quite stopped dressing like this. Except not as many desert tones or suede dress boots—that stuff gets destroyed in the rain and mud. The only thing I see missing is that there are no holes in anything.

Oh man, right in the feels, my one and only child, my girl, Butter Jr. turned 18 today—between Beyonce’s mother introducing her, her baby girl scampering in the intro, and the beautiful symbolism of Oshun and the Madonna, my mama’s heart is all teary.

This breaks my heart. Butter Jr. is lucky enough to go to a high school that is a safe place for LGBTQ, and ratio of students skews 50% LGBTQ / 50% straight. It is the only school of its kind in the county, and even has an unusually high per capita ratio of students living with autism as well.
