I haven't seen Life Is Beautiful, but the title is so very off putting considering the subject and Roberto Benigni's bisarre behaviour at the Oscars really made it all worse. I'm cleary in minority here, but I actually like The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas. I might be a sucker in this case, but it made me sob.

I definitely agree. One aspect of the whole thing with Oscar bait is that nominated films have a tendency to have more or less a touch of sentimentality, which can be incredibly annoying, that the Academy seems to love unashamedly. I'm not saying that Spielberg isn't a great film-maker, but there's often some sort of

A lot of times film people say that they don't give a shit about winning which of course is bullshit. "You can't compete in acting or film-making" (implying that it's vulgar), "it's a honor just to get nominated", "I'm only in it out of artistic reasons" (hey, look at me! I'm like deep), "getting nominated is just a

It's Hallström, dammit. How dare you not check up on the spelling?! This is outrageous. As a Swede I'm offended, and I must defend my country's honor in this serious matter. *clenchs my fists*

I watched Radio Flyer as an adult, and I must say that film creeps me out. I find it very disturbing and not only because of the end; that was the most unpleasant film experience I've ever had. It's not just because it's about child abuse either, there's also something else I can't put my finger on. I felt such an

Yeah, my country's film industry can also be pretty foolish. For example, Lasse Hallström's first Swedish film in like 25 years gets our nomination for Best Foreign Film this year even before its premiere, so nobody has seen it yet. I mean, come on! Sure, Hallström has got a lot of Oscar nominations in his days, but I

I love Raven In The Grave, it's very moving with beautiful, melancholy lyrics and tones. They really know how to use romantic elements in such a manner that is profound. I love listening to this album after a stressful day.

Very wise words indeed to this action's aftermath. There's no words to put behind the horrible suffering that lead someone to take his or hers life, as others with me know all too well. "If I can't live on for my own sake, then I must do it for others' sake", is a thought and conclusion of mine that has kept me alive
