Indeed, the times of 25 hour SP experiences without having to buy overpriced DLC seem to be long gone, with few exceptions (I love you R*). But I don't think that is anything to be proud of as a publisher. Well, maybe if your talking to your shareholders, but definitely not towards your customers.

Saboteur and Velvet Assassin were some of the better games of last year imo. Choose a genre that isn't rts or fps and a setting that isn't d-day or north africa and voila, there you have your non-generic, original WWII-game.

I thought Rockstars "The Warriors" was a clearly better experience on the PSP than on the big consoles. "Pirates!" was an excellent port as well.
