I wouldn't think gas prices would have a huge impact on electric cars. The Model S for example is far more expensive than a diesel golf in their respective usable life times. People buy the Model S because it is a great car, not to save money.

I vote a 930 Turbo, I would say a 964, but I think those are running quite a bit above the price range. Even a 930 Turbo you will have to look around a bit to find one in your price range. You will have to do some rally spec conversions to prep it for winter :-)

I test drove a T6 S60 and found it to be a pretty nice package, I can only imagine with a lighter more powerful engine up front, and a bit of rear bias on the differentials and it would be one hell of a performer.
