I had a conversation with two cops last week at a protest. I asked them about a ton of things and this came up. They blamed so many issues on specific cops being less experienced and less mature. Basically, when a cop fucks up, it's because he's young and inexperienced. (? Ok. Sure?)

Yeah, there are definitely levels to this shit.

Racism is a huge issue in the South. Also in the North, the East, and the West.

RACE ISN'T EVEN A THING. COLOR DOESN'T EXIST. IT'S ONLY ABOUT CLASS. FAIRIES. RAINBOWS. SUGARPLUMS.

To me, this is a psychological trick white America plays with itself. In order to continue to delude itself that America is the best country, that we're just, that meritocracy is real and the American Dream exists, it will search for any and all reasons to pretend racism doesn't exist. Because once you admit it does,

Oh my god, I just had a conversation with an acquaintance of mine today about this.

Is it possible that people have just become so cynical and fatalistic that when they see somebody who performed a petty crime get killed they think "good" and it has nothing to do with race but just the fact that we've all thrown in the towel?

Yeah, definitely. I thought that was evident from the title...

You need to add "while black" to every item on that list.

When you've decided you hate someone, the most trivial things about that person can piss you off. That's pretty much the core of racism. A racist white person would never wish ill will on another white person because they smoke weed, but they have a completely different standard when it comes to black people. That's

Well, that brief interlude of protestor-police harmony sure didn't last long.

I think it would be.. stubborn.. to say there's *no* chance whatsoever that that was how the situation played out, but it seems unlikely for the most part. If Brown did steal the cigars as accused, that's a couple of dollars worth of stuff, petty theft at best. Assaulting a policeman and trying to wrestle his weapon

What's more likely, that the police department sat on relevant info for days as the situation continued to blow up ever bigger and more job-endangeringly, or that they made a desperate attempt to poison the reputation of - and remove community support for- the young man they killed?

One eye witness may be mistaken but numerous witnesses who have no prior connection with each other saying the same thing is pretty convincing.

I think there's far more trigger-happy cops than there are young black teens willing to instigate physical altercations with police officers. Shoplifting is stupid, but almost everyone does it at some point. I don't see the robbery in question as being indicative of an even more violent criminal-minded person who was

It's not possible the police approached him for jaywalking. That's what's in the report. Even Ferguson PD acknowledge that Brown was not approached for anything more criminal than a simple misdemeanor. Even if Brown DID struggle, there was absolutely no reason to pull a gun on an unarmed civilian who had committed no

We never saw the first autopsy. People want an autopsy done by an objective third party for the same reason they wanted the FBI to take over the investigation - theyare operating under the assumption that anything done by the SLPD/ME will be compromised.

Due to the extraordinary circumstances

The only information that has been released from the preliminary autopsy is that he died of multiple gunshot wounds. In other words, duh. They won't release any more information until they get results of the toxicology tests, so they can hopefully use that to discredit him further. Shameful. I hope the DOJ autopsy
