Okay, on the one hand, I like that they're tying in lesser-known characters from the books, like Tip, Jack Pumpkinhead, and even Ojo (one of Baum's few male protagonists). On the other hand, naming Dorothy's romantic lead after her uncle squicks me out.

I kind of think superhero movies are the modern westerns. I don't think the bubble is going to burst within the next few years, but within the next few decades? Yes. And some day my grandkid will think of superhero movies the way I think of John Wayne movies- something from a bygone era.

I highly suspect years from now the Abrams Trek reboots are going to be dismissed as just a mistake by loads of Trek fans.

There's also "Up the Line" by Robert Silverberg.

I think these franchises are almost assembly lines at this point. If you know there are sequels coming, you lock down the actors' schedules in advance, keep all the sets and props you need instead of tearing them down, and the SFX people and digital artists have already done most of the groundwork for the series

Thanks for this, I was feeling worse about myself than I normally do and for some reason decided to read an article about how to deal with passive aggressive people. As if that wasn't enough I ventured into the comments. Little did I know my little trip down the self hate rabbit hole would end in watching a humorous

yu mean the plot twist where the villian who was 'so not Khan' ....was Khan?

Hi, Charlie, right back at you. Thanks for the shout-out.
