"lance Hunt wears glasses, Captain Amazing DOESN'T wear glasses!"

The kind of swordfighting you see in movies and TV shows, where everything is graceful and balletic and entertaining, is fiction. Nobody ever fought like that. The real thing was messy.

Good thing no one asked you.

Critics being harassed for criticizing games, sometimes for the very reasons you just mentioned, is an issue separate from that of the content of the games themselves. In other words, what you wrote is off topic; it doesn't directly pertain to the thesis of the open letter mentioned in this article.

I'm not thrilled about the lack of gameplay diversity, ethnic and sexual diversity, creativity and risk in big budget gaming either, but it strikes me as odd that you'd request your gaming desires be met before you engage in a discussion about civility and respect. What, in your mind, is the link?

Men don't tend to be killed in ways that highlights their sexuality or masculinity as much as women are, and they usually aren't portrayed in overtly sexual ways that lead directly to their deaths, said deaths being portrayed as deserved punishment for said sexuality.

I love the "but what about men!!" response. It's like when blacks incurr systemic violence and oppression on a regular basis so they have certain scholarships aimed towards them, and white people cry "but what about us!" my favorite analogy was "well in Mario Kart you never get the blue shell if you're in first

You're misunderstanding the discussion. It's not "remove all violence against women"; the discussion is "remove certain types of sexual violence against women who are just used as set-dressing to show that the world is gritty".

The problem with videogames being massively violent is a discussion (a really valid one) for

Seem? Certain people? I got news for you. Saying, "maybe women should form their own studio and make their pink games for girls" doesn't seem sexist to certain people. It is sexist as an objective fact. You imply that women should be segregated into their own studio because they and what they want are not "main

No one is advocating removing all violence directed towards women from all games. That's pretty much a strawman position that people who don't want anything to change use to rail against.

Sarkeesian makes pretty good points. Writers and directors should do better than what they've been doing. However, I'm reluctant to say that violence against any single group of people should be removed from creative work since that has the potential to shut down a vein of narrative. I mean sure, "imagine better

That was an excellent Falcon Punch.

Honestly, I would take a "Mass Effect One-2" any day. Not even a story continuation, just gameplay much more similar to the first game in the series without the bad team AI and glitching. The planet exploration was one of my favorite parts and made me feel like it was a true open Galaxy game.

I learned once that 20,000 leagues is the distance that was traveled, not the depth of Nautilus.

Know that you will suck at first for a long time. Don't pretend that you don't. Yes, you really are terrible, no it's not that cool that you can play Smoke on the Water. Learn some unique songs that people won't expect. Work really hard at it. If you don't want to work really hard at it, accept that. You can still do

What a great game this was. I still remember going absolutely bonkers when I managed to fully upgrade the carrot ship and just fly around firing bananas of death everywhere. Also, "destruct"

I remember the online for this. Like these awesome jedi lightsaber duels with some actual depth, I remember the protocol of 1v1s, with the bowing, and the lightsaber in the off position, then go crazy swiping left and right, rolling and jumping all over, man some of the best times in my high school career.
