Every time I begin to regret turning down a lucrative job offer in Japan, I just remind myself of the women's rights situation there and then I feel better.

At an interview recently, the interviewer mentioned that the company would like to review my social media accounts. When I told him that I don't have any aside from LinkedIn, he suddenly became very suspicious. It was very unsettling.

When I was hostess at a Japanese restaurant an astonishing amount of people complained that the staff was, "too Japanese."

Everything I wanted to say and more. Thank you for this. Prepare for the backlash from the idiot libertarians who usually defend grotesque violent porn.

I wouldn't be surprised if she is and just keeps it quiet to avoid any potential backlash.

True love does exist! :')

I was thinking more a combination of an angry lizard and a foot.

Haha yeah I remember, I just wasn't really involved. Your username and avatar gave me a huge nostalgia rush. I loved Alias.

I don't know if they'll have the same appeal. So much of the Harry Potter craze, at least among adults, seems to be based on nostalgia. I've definitely thought about it though.

My parents didn't allow me to read Harry Potter when I was a kid because they thought it was stupid. I feel like I'm missing out on so many cultural references. My freshman year of college I was asked to sign a petition to make quidditch an official team sport and I just stared blankly at the poor girl.

In terms of sexualization of girls, no we really aren't. The difference is we do not have a massive, completely legal industry of soft core child pornography. AA is bad, but it's nothing compared to the junior idol stuff.

Same here. Most of the Japanese I know (ages 20-35) agree that it the idol industry as a whole is scummy, but none really seem to want to go as far as doing anything about it. The attitude is like, "well, that's just Japan."

Appalling. A friend of mine was a junior idol and did a lot of swimsuit modeling from ages 13-17. It really fucked her up.

Does this law include the regulating "junior idol" industry? That is some nasty stuff.

This is part of why I am so puzzled by adult feminists' embrace of Knox. She strikes me as incredibly naive and immature, even for an 18 year-old.

The amount of rage in some of these comments is astounding. Saying "millennial" is like a dog whistle for irritable assholes to shit themselves in righteous indignation.

Journalling has always been a part of Mormon culture (I think it's actually required by the Church). Blogging is just the 21st century extension of that

Really surprised the skinny jean trend hasn't died yet. I'm completely over them. Can't help but feel they look somewhat juvenile on adult women.

What's your price range? Are you looking for just turntable recommendations, or are you looking for something with built-in speakers?

My film school skewed probably around 60% female, but men still dominated the directing and camera departments. Women tended to go more into writing, art, or producing.
