can someone explain the infatuation with air cooled anything? I prefer my motorcycles water cooled, and I prefer my cars water cooled. water cooled is much better technology and can withstand higher temps and more abuse for longer. why would anyone who rides or drives on a race track want anything air cooled?

honestly? I’m not really sure...the Triple will be faster. I have a 2014 StTR, and I find it to be a hell of a DD bike. I ride it from Vegas to LA pretty often, as well. it’s a good city bike, and it’s a good track day bike. that being said, I’m eyeing an FJ-09 for a highway bike that can also somewhat do canyon…

because you put that qualifier “I’m pretty sure this Lamborghini would’ve been competitive with some of the 1976 F1 cars” in there...a large part of why modern sports cars are so damn quick is because tire technology has jumped a tremendous amount in the last 10 years.

what you’re not taking into account is tire technology from 41 years ago versus modern tire technology. I can almost guarantee if you took Lauda’s 312T2 and put modern slicks on it that it would demolish any modern sports car.

That being said, it’s still ridiculous that modern sports cars are now going this quickly.
