Hate to say this, but I’m so beaten down by what’s transpired the last several years that I feel nothing anymore. I know I should feel outraged, and at some level I am, but mainly I’m just resigned to these people getting their way. Every. Fucking. Time.

Why does everyone pick on Pete Carroll so much? At the risk of sounding like a Seahawks’ homer, here is Seattle’s win-loss record the last six seasons: 11, 13, 12, 10, 10, 9. Playoff record during that span: 8-4.

Yes, I do. Actions speak louder than words, and Mr. Sagan demonstrated allegiance when it was his turn to serve. On the other hand, I know a current political figure who makes a big show of reciting the pledge of allegiance, but shirked his duty to serve. Do you view that as being hypocritical?

Self-awareness is critical in maturing as a human being, as is treating ALL people well. As you wrote, being a decent and respectful human being is a chore, but the reward is being a good person, feeling better about yourself, and having others feel better about you.

Pet peeve: Why do writers and broadcasters prefer the word “philosophy” over “strategy.” I’m used to it because everyone does it, but philosophy is a tough college course that deals with the world, universe and society. Strategy is deciding whether to throw or run the ball on first down, etc.

Wilbon and Kornheiser both need to smoke some Hawaiian Haze, lock themselves in a dark closet, and reflect on what they’ve become. Smug and wildly in love with one’s self is a bad look.

While I agree with the premise that Bergevin has been disastrous for the Canadiens, it’s fairly obvious a rebuild is underway. Excerpt from Eyes On The Prize:

I’ve never understood he Pete Carroll bashing is misguided. He gets seriously good results, but I suppose people prefer automatons like Eric Mangini and two dozen other Peter Principled mediocrities.
