How come Peter King never breaks these stories about the commissioner vs. Jerry Jones, etc?

Speaking of golf, did you know that Obama set the record for most rounds played by a president of the United States? And taxpayers paid for it!
Agreed. And, this is a point never discussed, these new billion-dollar stadiums do NOTHING to enhance the TV experience for NFL fans. On TV, a game from Oakland is just as aesthetically pleasing as a game from new stadiums in Atlanta or Minnesota.
There is nothing worse than smug anti-intellectualism, and unfortunately we have an epidemic of non-thinkers in 2017 America. And while I admire the patience required to argue with somebody as willfully ignorant as Aubrey Huff, alas nothing good is gained by doing so. No amount of evidence will sway somebody with such…
I don’t know which is worse, the utter inability to spell basic words or the random capitalizations interspersed in every letter.
“That they’ll blame every outside influence for their shitty lives.”
Melo reportedly was jealous of Linsanity, and had Lin summarily run out of New York. It wasn’t a good look.
Because these people live in a bubble and get “information” from disreputable sources. I know people who believed Obama was going to impose sharia law, and that the government was going to go door-to-door and take away guns from people. Their sources of information—Fox News, Breitbart, Limbaugh, et al—convince them…
Who decided that Stephen A. Smith should be jammed down the throats of the American public? He washed out as a columnist, didn’t draw flies with his national radio show on FOX, and a proposed weekly show on Showtime never materialized, etc.
Weird stat: The Dolphins are 13-5 in their last 18 regular season games.
You are correct, of course, but these people do not bother to analyze data.
Awesome article, Drew. Not to get too philosophical, but humans should get wiser and show more empathy with age. I, too, have done a lot of frankly stupid things in nearly six decades of life. Hopefully 2017 America is about the death throes of some unpleasant men, and that we can all move forward as humans and as a…
I hear the same argument about the NFL stadium in Las Vegas, that the stadium money is coming from out-of-towners via hotel/motel taxes, etc. It still amounts to egregious corporate welfare.
But are they drowning? Certainly ESPN is trending down, perhaps even dramatically so, but doesn’t it just mean that their profits are smaller? That the company is still making mountains of money?
Excellent take. There are lots of competent beat reporters, whose main job is dissecting player personnel, but they all get the same stories. As somebody here pointed out recently, Peter King has the greatest Rolodex in the NFL, but doesn’t do shit with it.
“And if it wasn’t for one historically unfortunate decision by a fan in the stands, he’d have taken the Cubs to their first World Series in over 50 years.”
Yeah, they suck, but it’s hard not to be bad when every freaking game is a damn marathon. In 1970, the first year I watched the World Series, the times of the games were 2:24, 2:06, 2:09, 2:26 and 2:35. Watch some video of the games from the 70s (readily available on YouTube). The pitchers got the ball and they threw…
“The coach who began every morning by texting a different Bible passage to his staff invited the scrutiny.”
“For example, he told me that ISIS had crossed the river right here at Brownsville and were caught by the police, but instead of taking them to the station, Obama sent a bus for them and they disappeared.”
Unfortunately, yes, it would be asking too much to ask the wealthy stop bleeding whatever little the poor have left. The 1 percent are like the Grinch, scooping every last little crumb they can fit into their bags.
