You realize that the two type of shows you’re contrasting are completely different, right? One lends itself to review and the other doesn’t? Not a big fan of AVC coverage recently, but certain things lend themselves to it while others don’t.

“Such shenanigans could certainly happen again, though the foreseeable-future risk is not rated as high. This sort of thing happens once or twice per million years and the researchers who watch for signs that something is happening are not alarmed.”
The cast of Blue Bloods is not good. They have very little talent, but on top of that...
Really well said, and a much better reply than I gave. Wish I had read yours first and replied to you.
It is in the CBS wheelhouse of targeting older viewers for ad revenue that targets them, but it’s nothing like a case-of-the week crime drama. It’s not great coming out of the writing room, and they’ll get soapy direction, but the actors are solid.
There is definitely a contingent of (Bull Durham, Field of Dreams, The Untouchables, Dances With Wolves, etc...) older people who think of Kevin Costner as a sex symbol that would have always propped up a vehicle for him.
It really isn’t boring. I’m about as lefty as they get without compromising personal liberty, and while it’s a soap-opera with “great white RICH savior” vibes, the acting and drama are well presented most of the time, at least up to the start of the most recent season. I haven’t watched it yet.
“Decades from now, pop culture scholars are going to look back at the amount of coverage different TV shows got in fall of 2021 and assume that Americans were more obsessed with Yellowjackets than Yellowstone.”
Bernthall was perfect casting. Perfect. Did I mention it was perfect?
Agreed. I watched at least half of Arrow and the first couple of seasons of The Flash while it was in my job description was to analyze TV for reasons. They were semi-entertaining, but they were always lodged in the “CW/ABC Family/Freeform” vault in my mind.
I mean... sure, “inclusive” is great and all, but Danny Rand was white in the comics, too. Could they have killed him and pass along the fist in the first couple of episodes and make the whole thing feel better in the twenty-teens? Sure, but his isn’t a whitewashing case that really needs to be gone after any more…
“it seemed like they were designed for people bingeing them over a single weekend, rather than watching them at a slower pace.”
I’m with you, but the first season of JJ was a very close second to Legion’s first season. After that, it’s kind of hard to compare them.
Exactly, it was standard Matt Nix fare.
ARAGORN:
Stan Lee was Edison to everyone else’s Tesla. Cameos for the guy don’t deserve consideration.
True, 100%, but Krysten Ritter was still worth watching for every minute of every season. She really inhabited that role.
Doom Patrol is a lot better than most of the Berlanti schlock created since The Flash’s first couple/few seasons. It definitely deserves more attention.
Runaways, no.
Lou Ferrigno?
