Ugh. Everything I new I see about Ender's Game makes me want to see it less and less. Nothing says "uninspired genre film" than that stupid poster. I can't believe we actually got some pretty awesome Harry Potter movies and LOTR. It seems the studio level of give-a-fuck in sci-fi/fantasy films has plummeted, even

I think it really comes down to the source material's popularity, as to whether it bombs box office-wise or not. I think the only film that had a chance was Eragon, because those books really were quite popular, on a mainstream scale. But they just didn't put enough time and effort into the film itself. I, for one,

I came on here to put this one up. Holy crow. I didn't even bother after the first one. The first book was decent but then I started the second book and was like "wow I really do not care about any of these character enough to go on more journeys with them." I can't believe how many books are in this series... from

Huh... well, at least it seems they managed to make the stupidity and randomness of the source material entertaining? I don't know, the book was terrible. And I give a lot of trash a solid shake. But this book made no sense whatsoever, and not in a fun way. It was like the author had maybe once heard someone tell her

Interesting article. I'd like to see more of your thoughts on "disaster porn" as it seems to really have a grip on the pop-culture right now. You touched on the escapism bit of it, but I wonder if there's more to it? Have we seen so many "stakes" in film and television that we feel the only thing worthy of concern is

Still gets me every time. I must've checked out these books from the library, oh, I'd say 1000000000 times. No wonder there's so much wrong with my brain...

Have only "seen" these in my head, but I'd pick pretty much anything written by China Mieville, particularly...

The "call" is entirely relavent. The desire is within you, that need to become something. That something is a person more inline with what your soul truly wants. That desire manifests itself, then, in the call to action. Refusal of the call is an entirely legitimate human response. The Hero's Journey isn't a literal

This one still gets me to this day. The RE series is one of my favorite games, but the film... the first one is WATCHABLE, but not RE. The rest veer so far off the rails its rediculous. Okay, so there's a T-Virus, a corporation called Umbrella, and a town called Raccoon City... and that's pretty much the end of it.

I watched this 15 minutes ago and I'm still having an anxiety attack. No kidding. I love Cuaron and this looks stunning, but it triggered something in me, lol. Probably gonna skip this one...

Hollow Man is just plain bad. And all the RE movies can lick it because they stray so far from the source material it should be criminal. That and they're terrible. Otherwise this list is spot-on and awesome. I would throw Hackers on here. That's my favorite "not good movie" ever. Johnny Mnemonic is also quality crap.
