Are you unfamiliar with what "acting" is? Or filmed entertainment in general?
They remind me a lot of the scene in Mulholland Drive where the guy steals the black book and shoots the cleaner. A seemingly unrelated diversion that later turns out to be tangentially related, usually used to humorous effect or just to unsettle.

She's Skylar's lawyer from Breaking Bad that advises her to leave him.
The Coop scene where he's staring at the flag was inteeeeense.
Clever episode sequencing.
Howard being a dick to Kim at the restaurant really eroded my goodwill toward Howard, however seeing him call Chuck's bluff was a terrific capper to his arc this season.
No Mike was my only complaint against the episode.
