I’ve had to apply for a visa to China for work once, though that was about 18 years ago, so I don’t know how much things have changed.

If I had to guess, I’d say that they’re cheap to produce from all of the stock footage from Japan, and idiot kids who can’t get enough of this crap.
Neither is absolutely necessary. I make fried-rice all the time without using any stock, and have never had any problems, and have never made omurice using stock.
I just make a double-shot espresso, then pour it directly into a cup of ice. It’s really the main reason why I bought an espresso machine in the first place.

You can easily buy a rechargeable replacement battery online. They’re pricier than their non-rechargeable counterparts, but still quite a lot less than replacing the keyboards.

I have two of these keyboards, and while they’re very nice, they do eventually need to have their batteries replaced. The rechargeable battery used inside eventually dies out, and you need to put in a new one to bring the keyboard back to life.

There are definitely things, as well as for kids after a certain age, where we should not rely on having a backup, and let them start facing certain harsh realities.
That probably works fine for normal wear and tear, but what if some catastrophic accident befalls the stuffed toy, and some major “scars” are incurred? Are you going to scruff up your backup(s) in equal measure, à la The Prestige?
