Technically, that statement should be “all chili peppers came from the Americas.” When you say “all peppers,” that can easily confuse people into thinking that includes the pepper found in the salt & pepper shakers, which are completely different.

Those are indeed chili peppers, but not sichuan peppers. Current versions of Sichuan cuisine combines the use of sichuan peppers with chili peppers, the sichuan peppers provide a tingly, numbing sensation, while the chili peppers provide heat.

Sichuan pepper is not a chili pepper. It does not provide heat through capsaicin, and is not derived from the chili peppers of the Americas.
