Yeah a fair few of my friends didn't give us cards. They didn't give us gifts, but we'd asked for money so I didn't expect them to give us anything but I did expect a card. Like you say just a little note to say congrats, something for us to keep.

Yeah, I get that (in the context of pizza parties), which is the punishment I decreed for our hypothetical scrimper. The real-world application of it would be deporting those people, as the 'pizza party' is an analogy of society and we're removing them from the party.
