    I was playing FireRed with my six year old niece a few months ago! Pokemon’s a great game for kids. =)

    You know if Bethesda wanted, they can spend months working on character movement to make your guy faster, and implement wall-running, and get him playing like Titanfall by the end of it. All within their engine. That stuff’s about game feel, and it’s not a shortcoming of their engine.

    Betrayal is great! It's got a haunt for every haunted house trope. There's often some crazy means to resolve a haunt using magical items etc. It's a great game, I should get a copy.

    I don’t know if the Rare situation is entirely on Microsoft. From what I understand a lot of the top guys quit the company shortly after the buyout.

    Far Cry 2 being remembered as the series high point is so odd to me. I was playing it a few months ago. It’s an interesting experiment and a cool simulation, but it’s not a fun game.

    You know that HDMI TV functionality was found to be a security hole literally just this week? We’re modding consoles through the damn HDMI port now.

    I’ve been seeing this “Make it wireless” complaint a lot lately. I’ll be honest I never found the wire the least bit cumbersome. The thing is super long and loose, it never got in the way for me in any of my games. Maybe the form factor is nicer in the revised headset? I dunno.

    Maybe two minutes is a bit of an exaggeration. Maybe it’s more in line with one minute. But regardless my point still stands, it’s the intimidation of that initial setup that’s the biggest turn-off. Once you rip off that band-aid and you’re in game I can play for an hour straight and have a great time.

    But as I played yet another pretty good VR game yesterday, I was reminded that another impediment for VR is that, as good as any games on it can be, the process of starting to play a game in VR is inherently more cumbersome and annoying than playing anything else.

    I played through the original Doom in 2016 (first time I ever did a proper, full playthrough of it!). There were a few levels where I’d run in circles for literally 45-60 minutes looking for where to go.

    Obviously all strategies are available for free online, but also game design has reached a point where you’re essentially never lost when playing a modern game. There’s always a clear HUD indicator telling you where to go these days, I don’t think I ever got lost in a game released post-2006.

    Getting sniped by a Widow is annoying but I find I usually just play knowing she’s around and working around that.

    It’s legit, man! I have the game installed on a PS4 Pro I bought in 2017. The method only works if you have a license to the game on your PSN account already, though. So if you didn’t get it on your PSN account before Konami pulled it, you’re outta luck.
