When I BBQ the small stuff (wings) should be the first off the grill so that the real meat has space. I have no issues with the bigger portions of meat sticking, I just feel that the BBQ is not the place for the wings.

Wings are a waste of time if they're made in anything but a fryer, on grill all they do is stick to the grill and lose half of their meat.
I wouldnt ever put meat directly on the charcoal even if its the fancy hard wood kind, its too dirty
