This. Game studios focus TOO much on the huge-budget games. It's fine to have a few, preferably for established franchises that are sure to sell. It would probably be better for game companies to have a bigger amount of smaller projects, rather than working on a few massive ones. If one fails, then it's less of a loss.

There was in the sense that GBC games wouldn't work on a regular GB (Exceptions being games specifically made to do so, like Link's Awakening DX or Pokemon Yellow) You wouldn't be able to play, say, Pokemon Gold on a Bricky GB.

Actually I didn't like the gameplay either. I'll admit the cutscenes were strange and slightly offputting but the gameplay just didn't do anything for me. We shall have to agree to disagree.
