25 years ago, Hollywood tried to make the Nintendo Power Glove look cool. Today's the 25th anniversary of The Wizard, the movie that was essentially a big commercial for Nintendo where Super Mario Bros. 3 was revealed to the world.

Eliot was given his first video games on his fourth birthday. Those games were Galaxian (1979), Rally-X (1980), Bosconian (1981), Dig Dug (1982), Pac-Man (1980), Super Pac-Man (1982), Pac-Man Plus (1982) and Pac & Pal (1983).

After watching this, I'm pretty certain nobody hates Far Cry 4's villain, Pagan Min, more than Cosmic Contrarian. The guy spends nearly seven minutes killing Pagan Min in all sorts of hilarious ways in the level editor, from overloading him with turtles, to throwing him off cliffs.

I don't mean to single out Telltale here, because a) they make some really great stuff and b) many video game QTEs are kinda garbage. There's also a lot Telltale gets right—for instance QTEs where failure doesn't mean instant death, just a new branch in the story. But the not-so-great aspects of Telltale's designs are

Wasn't Super Mario Kart on SNES the first ever kart racing game?

Apparently my PC will run any upcoming game fine, but still has trouble to render the bazillion animated gifs at Kotaku.

Since Xenoblade was released in Europe as well, I knew who Shulk was, even though I didn't know his name (haven't played the game). Does that make me, uh, half Japanese?

Exactly. I only preorder Nintendo games and I buy my PC games on sale. I still feel concerned because I sometimes bought PC games that I would not be able to play from the get-go, but mostly because of compatibility issues...

Reminds me of Raving Rabbids for some reason. XD

Just looking at this starts to stir up some content-induced panic attack in my completionist gamer brain.

When did I say 'mixed bag'? I love Monster Hunter. But I'm frustrated that only one weapon fits my playstyle, and I think that a lot of people disregard the series because only one weapon is easy to use for a newbie.

I meant that only one fits my playstyle. I can't edit my first post. Please read the replys. :\

Yes, that or some Monster Hunter players are extremely pretentious. -_- RealmRPGer told it best: "Have you ever stopped to think why fighting games have slow characters and fast characters? It's because different people enjoy different styles, and no one style is "the best." The general problem with MH is that

I meant there's only one weapon that fits my playstyle. I spent hundred hours playing the game, but I don't have enough time to learn how to use every weapon in the game. I tried the lance several times and failed miserably. :\

I was kind of joking of course. -_-

You're probably right, but the more you play, the more it's difficult to change your habit. :\ For example, the lance makes you dodge backwards which is really confusing when you are used to roll forward with another weapon.

Oh, I admit I play MH really wrong. ;) I generally use armors with good dodging skills and with stealth ability, so that when I'm injured I can wait from a safe distance for my health to rise back again, while my friends are being beaten to a pulp by a wyvern. So at the end of the quest, I would typically have used

Mixed – The Grind

For myself, I prefer the simplicity of a long sword and found the new weapons to be too complicated in an already chaotic battlefield. Not my cup of tea, but that's just my opinion.

Jeez, it only took decades, but two of the finest space combat games - not to mention best Star Wars games - of all time are about to get a re-release.
