This would be the most powerful Steam Box configuration, acording to Valve. Gabe has said that the "normal" Steam Box would be around 300/400 dollars and would be able to play all Steam games. A 1000 dollars Steam Box should be able to play all games at maximum capacity.

The first day after launch was a breeze: I was able to play for hours without problems. After that it was much more chaotic, with server locks and hiccups everywhere. Some servers are better than other, if you consider prime time.

I don't like always on DRM, but here in Brazil the Sim City launch was fine. I downloaded the game and was able to play it right away. That in a country with ridiculously slow broadband... So perhaps the problems are location based?

It had a few production quirks (brazilian shows do look a bit like soap operas, mainly because brazilian audience loves
